Location

The location for our piece was in the wikenby woods the reason for choosing this location was because it was at opportunity because a member of my group lives near here so we were able to go there to film.

We also had to use willingham woods, because this was closer to school so we could go there more often.

Characters/Casting

In our original plan, the characters were:

• The Villian - Gemma Chambers
• Poppy - Emma Snowdon
• Brooke - Megan Deighton
• Kurt - Ashley Scott
• Kyle - Thomas Burley
• Sid - Guy Williams

But because we decided to take out the camp scene due to time reasons, so the new character list is:

•  The Villian - Gemma Chambers
• Sid - Guy Williams
• Kurt - James Beasley 

 But because of the fact that a naive audience member would not be able to differentiate between Guy and James, so we removed James.

The final casting is:

Planning - Ideas.

For this piece of coursework I was in a group of 3 people, Gemma Chambers and Megan Deighton were the 2 other people in my group.

From the very start of planning we decided that we wanted the genre we prefered was Horrer/Thriller type.

The original idea was to make a comedy horror movie, but we decided against this idea, because we found it difficult to do, so in the end we decided on a serious horror.

The original idea, which we have pretty much stuck to, was to film our opening scene in the woods, at night time. The reason for it being at night time was that it was about a group of friends that go camping in a forest, because people associate dark night time and the woods with fear.

In our original extract we were going to film a scene of where you saw the entire camp, but we didn't do this because we wouldn't of had enough time to introduce all of the characters.

The general idea of this piece was that one of the friends disappears into the woods, and then the others go off to try and find him. A movie that influenced us to have this idea was 'The Wrong Turn'



because this movie was about a group of friends going on a road trip, and they take a 'wrong turn' and the friends split up to go find help.

Another opening sequence that we studied was City Of God.
This is good because it gives us an international view because this movie was filmed in Brazil

six feet under

the first technique that i noticed was the tree at the start when it becomes animated, this could represent the the cycle of life. The close up of the hands being separated at the start could suggest separation like the separation between life and death.
The bright white light that the hospital trolley is being pushed into, could suggest the end of one life and the transformation to heaven.
With regards to the dying flowers, this could represent death.
All these techniques help the audience to understand what the programme is going to be about without going into to much detail.
